What is a
"System-Built" home?
Systems building is the practice
of new home construction where some or all of
the house is built under factory controlled
conditions. This industry encompasses three main
categories; mobile homes, panelized and modular
building systems. At Plantation Cottages, we use
the panelized and modular systems, using a
controlled factory environment to stick-build
the home sections. Using these systems offers
the greatest amount of flexibility for our
clients when choosing a home plan.
We do want to stress that your home is a
"stick-build" home meeting or exceeding local
building code, it is just completed in sections
in a controlled environment as opposed to on
site.

Can we make
changes to the design in the home?
Yes. although your home is a
system build home, we are a custom home
builder. We have a variety of home styles and
floor plans that you can choose from and make
minor modifications. We can incorporate your
ideas and design the home as you request.
Can we upgrade
our home?
Yes. Whether you choose a
traditional "stick-build" or system build home,
you will have a variety of options and upgrades
should you choose. However, we do design all of
our homes to contain most of the features and
benefits a homeowner would be looking for, at an
affordable price.
How much does it
cost to build a Plantation Cottages system-built
home?
Very good question. The costs
vary depending on customer requirements. There
are many factors that can impact the final cost
of your new home. The style of home you select,
the type of windows and doors, the choice of
interiors such as kitchen cabinets and counter
tops, flooring, appliances and plumbing fixtures
all will affect the price of your new home. Our
objective is to keep the price of the home at around $140,000, making it affordable
for most home buyers.
